Declan Pidd

Workplace Trainer - Transport

I started working for Heron Foods in March 2016 as a part time Warehouse Picker. Within a week I was offered a full time role and was soon after asked to become a FLT Driver. By September 2016 I started on the company’s ‘Warehouse to Wheels’ program and obtained my Class 2 licence in November 2016 and my Class 1 in March 2017. Within just a year of starting with the company, I had been fully trained to be a qualified HGV Class 1 Driver! I’ve also been promoted to become a Workplace Trainer!

I’ve found it great at Heron – there’s lots of opportunities and they are willing to invest in you as long as you are prepared to work hard. It’s certainly not a dead end job! I felt privileged to get through the training as quickly as I did as it meant a lot of investment in me from the company!
