Lorrie Camm – Store Manager

I joined Heron Foods in 2009 as a Part Time Sales Assistant. I was 16 year old and worked 8 hours per week over the weekend shifts.

My manager saw potential in me and began teaching me management tasks. By the age of 18 I was promoted to Duty Manager, covering various stores. Within 2 years I was working as Duty Manager within a dedicated store.

My passion for retail and the effort I put in to my job was recognised by my Area Manager. As a result, I was promoted to Store Manager. Within 6 months I was given a bigger store to manage due to my high performance. I continue to improve store performance and enjoy seeing the store go from strength to strength.

I was proud to be asked to be a workplace mentor supporting one of our apprentices. In addition, I took on the challenge of training our new Store Managers and was recently appointed the ‘super user’ during the launch of a new ordering system. I enjoyed supporting the Area during the launch. I have benefited from various training and development programmes.

I like working at Heron because it is fast paced and I am never bored - everyday is different. If I ever need support, it is always available from both my Area Manager and the wider Store Support team.

I would highly recommend Heron as an employer. You are given the opportunity to progress and if you are passionate about the job you will be noticed without a doubt. Everyone is treated equally and the Senior Management team are down to earth and easy to talk to.

Amazing service!

Just like to say what amazing service I received at my local Heron store. The girl on the till was amazing - friendly and happy to help me. We don’t often see service like this today in shops. Well done to your staff!
